The Ramsar is a world class efforts to conserve wetlands, Based on the theme ‘Conservation of Leaks and Wetland for the future’. In India, conference has been organized by the ministry of Environment and forests.
The Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan and the International Leak Environment Committee, Japan. Due to increasing urbanization and industrialization, Leaks have suffered a lot in the whole world. That’s why, initiative efforts have been made in all countries for the restoration of leaks and improving their water Quality.
To control the water pollution, enacted a comprehensive law under the wetland conservation globally in 1971. India actively participate in the Ramsar convention in 1971. Efforts to conserve many leaks in India have been appreciated globally. India was also awarded the Ramsar Conservation Award for the revival of Chilka Leak. Similarly, Bhopal Lake conservation work of has also been praised internationally.
For the prevention of Leaks and wetlands, the first such conference was organized in the year 1979 and after that, in a gap of two years. The conferences are being held continuously in different part of the world, which leads the developing countries with scientific thought.
Key points of Ramsar Convention/Wetland conservation
On the same day in the year 1971, a convention on wetland on the coast of Caspian sea was adopted in in Iran city of Ramsar. The world wetland day was first observed on 2 February 1997.
The theme of The World Wetlands Day for the year 2019 was, “Wetland And Climate Change”
The approved Themes for next two years 2020 and 2021 by the Ramsar Convention/wetland Conservation are – 2020 – Wetlands and Biodiversity. 2021 – Wetlands and Water
Importance of Wetlands:- Wetlands are called biological super market as they form food webs. The food web comprise many food chains, and a rich food web is a symbol of rich biodiversity. It is also known as the “Kidney of Landscape”.
The Wetland purifies the water by water cycle and removes the pollution elements. wetlands play the important role to produce flora and medicine plants. Wetlands play an important role to carbon observation and help in increase the ground water level.
